Dancing has been a huge part of my life since the grand old age of Three where I began Saturday morning Ballet Classes at a local church hall. I soon began taking as many classes as my mum would pay for such as ballet, tap, modern and free jazz.
After leaving High School I went on to train with the Leap Dance Company. I gained so much performance experience and my dance technique went from strength to strength. I studied all types of dance and drama techniques at LEAP and gained an OCN Foundation in Dance.
Following Leap Dance I went to study at the Phil Winston’s Theatre works college in Blackpool. I had a great year performing shows at the Paradise rooms, Pleasure Beach, Blackpool. I studied many genres of dance at advanced level. We also did many promotions for shows at the Grande Theatre. I stayed for a year and then decided to take my dance teaching qualifications.
The past 3years I have spent doing an ISTD Teacher Training course at the Northern Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA). I have successfully passed the FDI level in Ballet, tap and Modern and am more than half way through my final year. Im teaching dance part time to help fund my course fees, i teach Cheerleading, Street dance, Pop dance classes and work for the East Riding Youth Dance. I love teaching but would like to perform first before i settle down into the role of a dance teacher. I will leave with the CDE dance teaching qualification in Ballet, Tap and Modern. This allows me to teach the ISTD dance syllabus anywhere in the world.
